If you've booked Tick Taxi to collect you from Bristol Airport and your flight diverts, we still collect you from the airport it lands at: we contact you to confirm which airport that is, and you pay only the difference between the new journey and the fare you've already paid. A booking home to Bath at £59, for example, stays paid; you'd pay only what the new journey costs above £59. Our line is open 24 hours a day on 0117 966 6666.
Checked October 2026.
What Tick Taxi does when your flight diverts
- We see it. We track the flight number on your booking, so a change of destination shows up on our side as well as yours.
- We contact you. We get in touch to confirm the airport you've landed at, so the car goes to the right place.
- We collect you there. The booking isn't lost because the plane went somewhere else. We send a car to the airport you actually landed at and drive you home.
- You pay only the difference. The fare you've already paid counts towards the new journey. You pay only the difference over it, not a second fare.
The rest of the booking works as it always does: the driver loads the bags, there's no night rate, and the fare for a journey is the same in both directions.
What to do first
A diversion is stressful, and the first few minutes on the ground are busy. Three things make the rest simple:
- Give us your flight number when you book. That's what lets us track the flight and notice a diversion without you having to tell us.
- Turn your phone on as soon as you can after landing. We'll be trying to reach you to confirm the airport.
- Tell us what the airline has told you. Ring 0117 966 6666, any hour, with the airport you're at and anything the airline has said about your onward journey, and we'll arrange the pickup from there.

Who pays for what
The rule is the one above: the fare you've already paid stays paid, and you pay only the difference between the new journey and that fare. A Bath booking from Bristol Airport is from £59, so if your flight lands somewhere further away, the £59 counts towards the new trip and you pay only the amount above it.
For a booking from Bristol Airport to Bristol city centre (from £39), this is what a diversion means:
| Your flight lands at | Our fare to Bristol | You pay on top |
|---|---|---|
| Cardiff Airport | £125 | £86 |
| Exeter Airport | £139 | £100 |
| Birmingham Airport | £169 | £130 |
Each of those fares is the same to a Bristol address or to Bristol Airport, and our 45 minutes of free waiting runs from your actual landing at the new airport.
What your airline does for you after a diversion is between you and the airline, and we can't advise on claims. The Civil Aviation Authority explains passengers' rights when flights are disrupted in its guide to flight delays and cancellations.
If you're collecting someone whose flight diverted
If you were driving to Bristol Airport yourself, don't set off until you know where the plane has landed. A flight tracker or the airline's app will show the new airport. If you were already waiting at Bristol, the airport's Waiting Zone costs nothing for the first 60 minutes while you find out; how it works is on Can you pick someone up for free at Bristol Airport?
Waiting Zone charges from Bristol Airport, Waiting Zone. Checked October 2026.
