How do I get a taxi from Bristol Parkway station?

The figure you are quoted is the figure you pay, whatever the M4 and M5 do on the day.

You cannot get from Bristol Parkway to Bristol Airport on one vehicle unless it is a car.

The airport has no railway station, and the A1 Airport Flyer does not come out to Parkway. What people actually do is take a train into Bristol Temple Meads, which is 10 to 15 minutes, then walk round to the Flyer and ride it out to the terminal for £9.50. Two tickets, one change, your own bags across it, and the whole thing rests on the first leg running on time.

That is a genuinely different situation from Temple Meads, where the Flyer leaves from the station and the bus is an easy call. From Parkway the comparison is a £49 car going straight there against an hour-plus of connecting, and the gap gets wider the more luggage and people you add.

Your driver waits in the main pickup and drop-off area at the station, and confirms it with you when you book. At Parkway that is the set-down and pick-up area by the station entrance.

Parkway is a simpler building than Temple Meads, which helps: one main entrance, lifts from it to every platform, and the Assisted Travel meeting point at the booking office by that main entrance. There is a large car park on site, open around the clock and not free. Check the current tariff with the operator rather than a figure quoted second hand, because station listings for car parks go stale.

Tell us straight away, and the driver moves with the train.

Two things we need from you, and they are the whole arrangement. Tell us which train you are on when you book, and tell us straight away if it is delayed. Your driver is timed to arrive when the train actually arrives, so a delay you do not pass on is a car sitting there for a train that is not coming.

Worth being straight about the numbers: a train pickup includes five minutes' free waiting, where our airport work includes flight tracking and 45 minutes. Five minutes is enough to walk off a platform and out of the building, and it is not enough to absorb a late train. That is the whole reason we ask you to tell us.

There is one at the station entrance, and it is not us.

Ranks are worked by hackney carriages. Our licence is private hire, which means booked ahead and never hailed, so we will not be sitting in that line. The reason to think about it here rather than shrug is the hour. The gateline at Parkway is staffed until about a quarter to two in the morning on weekdays, which tells you something true: trains are still arriving here very late. A rank outside a suburban station at half past one on a wet Tuesday is a different proposition from a rank outside Temple Meads at six in the evening, and it is the one night you least want to find out how many cars are on it.

Parkway exists to catch two kinds of passenger: people going to London, and people who live and work north of the city.

It has direct trains to London Paddington calling at Swindon and Reading, around an hour and twenty minutes, which is why so much of the weekday traffic through it is business travel rather than holidays. It sits in Stoke Gifford, minutes from Aztec West, which is where our own registered office is, and close to UWE's Frenchay campus, the north fringe business parks and the M4 and M5 junctions.

From autumn 2026 it gets a neighbour: the reopened Henbury line and the new Bristol Brabazon station a short run away, on the same £49 fare band to the airport.
