How do I get a taxi in Henbury?

The airport figure is a band and the rest are published fixed fares, and the table says which is which.

Henbury is further out than either and the run is longer, so expect the upper half of that band rather than the bottom of it. It has planning permission and a design, and it is still about two years away.

The reopened Henbury line brings passenger trains back to this side of Bristol for the first time since the 1960s, and Henbury will be the end of it: a single bi-directional platform acting as the terminus and turnback, unstaffed, with ticket machines, a covered waiting area, cycle parking, CCTV and a car park that will include electric vehicle charging and accessible bays. It sits close to the A4018, on a different site from the old station, which closed to passengers in 1964. South Gloucestershire Council approved it in October 2025, which surprises people who think of Henbury as Bristol: the site sits close enough to the boundary to fall the other side of it. The expected opening is 2028.

The part of that line which opens sooner is the other end. Bristol Brabazon is expected in autumn 2026 and is a short run from Henbury, so if you want a train before 2028 that is realistically where you will board it.

Two destinations dominate, and only one of them is a holiday.

Southmead Hospital is in the same postcode district, and hospital journeys are the ones where a booked car with a known time earns its place: an early appointment, a discharge at an hour when nobody wants to wait for a bus, or a relative visiting without a car of their own. We are simply a taxi firm that covers it, with no arrangement with the hospital of any kind. The other is Cribbs Causeway, a few minutes up the road, which is a short enough hop that the bus is usually the sensible answer and we will say so.

Beyond that it is the airport and the long-distance runs. There is no railway station at Bristol Airport, so even once Henbury station opens in 2028 the train will not take you there: it would be a train into Temple Meads and then the A1 Flyer bus at £9.50, which is a long way round from this side of the city. Henbury sits in BS10 between Brentry, Westbury-on-Trym and the edge of the Blaise estate.

It is well placed for the A4018 into the city and for the ring road out to the M5, which is why the airport run from here is closer to 30 or 40 minutes than the 25 you would get from the centre, and why it sits at the upper end of the fare band rather than the lower. Cribbs Causeway, Southmead and Filton are all short runs; central Bristol is a longer one than the map suggests at rush hour.
