Is there a free drop-off at Bristol Airport?

1. Drive to the Waiting Zone, not the terminal. The postcode is BS48 3DW.
2. Drop your passenger off. The first hour is free.
3. They take the shuttle bus from the Car Rental Centre, a short walk away, to the Transport Interchange, then walk 3 to 5 minutes to the terminal.

It is genuinely free, but it isn't quicker. With cases, it adds a walk and a bus ride before check-in, so allow time for it rather than cutting it fine.

If you'll be back to collect someone later, note the Waiting Zone's one strict rule: registrations are captured on the way in and out, and a car that returns within 30 minutes of leaving gets an automatic Parking Charge Notice.

The Drop Off & Pick Up car park is on the Transport Interchange, close to the terminal. It is fully cashless: cameras read your registration as you drive in, and you pay at the exit barrier by contactless or Chip & PIN, with Apple Pay and Google Pay also accepted. There is no surcharge for paying by credit card.

Blue Badge holders get up to 40 minutes for £8.50 by scanning the barcode on the back of the badge at the exit barrier, and that applies when family or friends are dropping off a badge holder too.

The ten minutes start when the camera in the entry tunnel reads your number plate, not when you stop. In Tick Taxi's own timings, reaching a bay can take up to five minutes at busy times, and driving back out through the exit barrier takes about a minute normally and up to three when it's busy. On a bad evening that can leave about two minutes to get the bags out, which is how a drop-off with luggage drifts into the £10.50 band.

The Drop Off & Pick Up car park has a 2.5 metre height limit. Anything taller has to use the separate Minibus/Over Height car park. Bristol Airport's own pages currently give two different tariffs for that car park, so check the airport's minibus and over-height page on the day rather than rely on a figure from us.

In the Drop Off & Pick Up car park, a 3 to 5 minute walk (about 140 metres) from the terminal. The £8.50 is inside your fixed fare, so nobody pays at the barrier, and the fare is the same as the journey back: Bath to Bristol Airport is from £59, Weston-super-Mare from £49 and Cardiff from £109.
