Tick Taxi drivers typically see a passenger off an international flight reach the car about 30 minutes after landing at Bristol Airport with no checked luggage, and about 40 minutes with checked bags at normal hours. When more than five flights land at about the same time it's about 55 minutes with bags, and on an unusual day it can be up to about 1.5 hours. These are our drivers' typical times from our own pickups, not a promise, and they are why our 45 minutes of free waiting count from the actual landing.

Landing to the car: Tick Taxi drivers' typical times
Collecting passengers from Bristol Airport is what our drivers do all day, so they know how long the walk from the aircraft door to the car really takes. These are their typical times for an international arrival, from the plane landing to the passenger reaching the car:
| Passenger arriving | Landing to the car, typically |
|---|---|
| No checked luggage | About 30 minutes on average |
| No checked luggage, but the plane is held before reaching a stand, or there aren't enough buses to the terminal | About 45 minutes |
| Checked luggage, normal hours | About 40 minutes |
| Checked luggage, when more than 5 flights land at about the same time | About 55 minutes |
| Unusual situations | Up to about 1.5 hours |
Tick Taxi drivers' typical times for international arrivals at Bristol Airport, from our own pickups, October 2026. A guide, not a promise: your flight can be quicker or slower.
The car is in the Drop Off & Pick Up car park on the Transport Interchange, a 3 to 5 minute walk (about 140 metres) from the terminal, so that walk is already inside the times above.

What slows it down
Four things separate the quick arrivals in our drivers' times from the slow ones:
- The plane is held before it reaches a stand. Nobody gets off until it's parked, so the clock runs before the walk has even started. Even with hand luggage only, that turns about 30 minutes into about 45.
- There aren't enough buses to the terminal. Bristol Airport has no airbridges or piers, so every passenger walks or takes a bus between the aircraft and the terminal. When the buses can't keep up, the wait comes before you reach passport control. It's the other reason a hand-luggage passenger can take about 45 minutes.
- Several flights land together. When more than five flights land at about the same time, all of those passengers reach passport control and baggage reclaim at once. With checked bags, our drivers' typical time goes from about 40 minutes to about 55.
- Checked bags. At normal hours, waiting at the belt adds about 10 minutes: about 40 minutes with bags against about 30 without.
Passport control has e-passport gates for anyone over 10 with a chipped passport. Children aged 8 or 9 can use them if they're at least 120 cm tall and with an adult, so a family with younger children can't all go through the gates.

What to tell your driver
The driver can see when your plane lands. They can't see the bus queue or the bag belt, so a few words from you do the rest:
- Your flight number, when you book. We track the flight, so the driver works to the time it actually lands, early or late.
- Whether you have checked bags. Hand luggage only usually means about 30 minutes; with bags, plan on about 40.
- A message if the plane is held or you're waiting for a bus. It tells the driver the clock has started late.
- "Got my bags". Our drivers wait in the airport's free Waiting Zone and drive round to the Drop Off & Pick Up car park when you message, so the car is at the bay as you walk out.
If you'd rather be met inside, meet and greet is an optional £15: the driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name board, takes the trolley and walks you to the car. Why our 45 free minutes count from the actual landing
A flight that lands an hour late hasn't used an hour of anybody's waiting time; the passenger was in the air. So Tick Taxi counts the free waiting on airport pickups from the actual landing time, and gives 45 minutes of it. That is longer than our drivers' typical 30 minutes without bags and 40 with bags at normal hours, so an ordinary slow bag belt costs nothing extra. Pickups away from an airport, such as a station or a front door, get 10 minutes, because nobody has a passport queue between them and the car.
The fare is fixed when you book, there's no night rate, and the driver loads the bags. How the tracking works, and what happens when a flight is late, is on Do Bristol Airport taxis include free flight tracking?
How to time a collection
If you're collecting someone yourself, the same times tell you when to move:
- Follow the landing, not the timetable. A flight tracker or the airline's app shows when it actually lands.
- Drive into the free Waiting Zone around the landing time. Its first 60 minutes are free, which covers our drivers' typical 30 to 55 minutes.
- Leave when they message that they have their bags, then go straight to a bay in the Drop Off & Pick Up car park, where £8.50 buys up to 10 minutes.
