Here's the thing nobody tells you before booking a cheap flight into Bristol: there's no direct public transport to Cardiff. The public route is the A1 Flyer into Bristol, then a train from Temple Meads, about 2 and a half hours and two changes with your luggage. Why this route catches people out
Bristol Airport serves half of South Wales, the flights are often cheaper than Cardiff Airport's, and the distance is only 45 miles. So thousands of Cardiff-bound passengers land at Bristol every week assuming there'll be a shuttle. There isn't. The old direct coach links have come and gone, and as of July 2026 the journey is bus, then train, then whatever gets you from Cardiff Central to your door. Fine at 2pm. Miserable at 11pm with kids, and impossible after the last train.
